It should also be understood that the Security officer must always evaluate themselves for the work they do everyday. Carrying a Firearm is an "Inherently Dangerous" occupation and it does not matter whether you are "Private Security or law Enforcement(LE)". Everything is the same and the training standard is the same. The Liability for failing to follow "Safety and Use of Force" guidelines will bring you into "Jeopardy". we should always be aware of the " Moral, Religious and Legal" standards for Using Force against another Human Being. This is why we train from being a "Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced" shooter in Private security and LE.
Making mistakes in the training arena is better than making them in a real "Contact Situation". We record training so Security Officers can use them to see the mistakes and learn from them. Mistakes are always going to happen, limiting them in a training environment, lessens your liability at work.
Many times, I see Instructors breaking people down for making a mistake, and that is due to their own "EGO, they believe they are Perfect and have never made a mistake. In my 43 years in America and working in the "Private Investigation, Security and prior in LE", I have made hundreds of mistakes, and I write about them in my Books "Command Decisions, Ethics, Use of Force and Domestic Terrorism'and I do that, so others can understand and learn from them and limit their mistakes.
"What is the difference between a "Fool and an Expert?" A Fool never learns from their mistakes, an Expert Does!
